Local Talk 2015.3.6 – Back to the Future

Back to the Future Tutu

By Eugene Villaluz

Have you noticed the recent changes to the HMAUS Signal?

We’ve switched WordPress themes to refocus the web site toward a magazine-like presentation. You could say that we’re returning the HMAUS Signal to its roots when it was once a paper publication and delivered by the US Mail.

The main menu has been restructured to focus more on content, especially new content. All major links will be located in the main menu, which will appear below the header banner image on all pages. Standard organizational information has been placed into the About drop down menu item.

One of the features we’ve created is Doctor Kokua, a question and answer column about technology. The other is Local Talk, a gathering place for commentary, information and conversation.

I’ll post more information about the HMAUS Signal’s new look and features later.

Sharing the Aloha

The big news right now is that the Board of Directors approved a new membership policy called One Plus One. The program provides that any new member who has been sponsored or referred for membership in HMAUS be provided an additional month of membership to the organization. The sponsoring member is also given one additional month of membership.

It’s a great way to welcome our new members into the HMAUS ohana and to show appreciation to our goodwill ambassadors.

More information will be posted soon.

When’s the Next Big Thing?

Spring will be on us soon and that means our annual SpringFest is coming soon. We’ll have tentative dates and location by the end of this month.

SpringFest will also be our annual membership meeting and election. This annual meeting will include proposed by-laws amendments. Very important stuff. Watch for it. Keep your inbox ready and clean so you won’t miss the details.

Like rites of passage and new beginnings, elections means we (the Leaderboard) would welcome your nominations for directors to the board. But, of course, you may nominate yourself.

“If not you, then who? If not now, then when?”

The nominating committee may be calling on you.
