We’ll be at our favorite meeting place, the ING Direct Cafe in Waikiki, for a full day of learning, face-to-face help and sharing. We’ve expanded Mini Topics with one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Mini Topics are brief learning opportunities (from 30 to 45 minutes) to introduce technology resources and useful tools.
This month’s Mini Topics: “A Special Preview of Interactive Fraction Tutor” and “Digital Doodling and Visual Note Taking”.
As always, the HI Touch Learning Clinics are free to members and our guests. Meetings are in the upstairs Alii Conference Room are comfortable at about a dozen people. Beverages and food are available for purchase from ING Direct. Parking is available at the ING Direct building or in the adjacent parking lot.
OVERVIEW
MORNING MINI TOPIC – A Special preview of Interactive Fraction Tutor, an iPad app
HMAUS member Chae Lee will share with you his new iPad application for helping students of all ages learn about fractions. Chae will also talk about what he’s learned to become an iOS developer. This will be a good session for anyone hoping to develop iOS applications.
AFTERNOON MINI TOPIC – Digital Doodling and Visual Note Taking
HMAUS member Terrence Young will present a very brief peek at a couple of apps for drawing and handwriting on iPad. Plus – Should I use a Stylus?
OPEN CLINIC THROUGHOUT THE DAY – Help and Questions about Apple Products and Related Technologies
Do you have a “how-to” question? A good face-to-face session and hands-on support works wonders for many in need of TLC. Your HMAUS friends will be on hand to help you figure things out. You may bring your own laptop, handheld or luggable system if a “look-see” is needed. We do ask that you be considerate and resist bringing a lifetime of “issues” because we’ll be on an “as time permits” basis.
What can you expect at the HI Touch Learning Clinic:
- Learn how to explore the Internet to find solutions
- Learn how others use applications and the operating system
- Learn how to perform basic maintenance
- Learn “best practices”
- Learn how to manage upgrades and downgrades
- Learn about new (or old) applications and hardware
HI-TLC is a free form open clinic; appointments are not necessary. Help will be dependent upon volunteers on hand but we’ll try to attend to all who come. You can help by preparing a list of the items that are of particular concern to you. You may complete and bring this form for your visit.
If you don’t have any questions of your own but just want to help others please come and lend a hand. We can all be FFF (face-to-face-friends).
