Springfest 2015

The HMAUS Leaderboard has started work on  the annual Springfest Members’ Meeting. Mark your calendar to reserve Saturday, May 9 for the all day event. Two important items will be on the agenda for the annual meeting, election of directors and by-laws amendment.

This year’s ‘fest will be held at our new meeting location, the Nuuanu Baptist Church. Those of you have attended recent HI Touch Learning Clinics will already be familiar with this location in Nuuanu Valley. We’ll be posting more information soon.

The Springfest will include a panel discussion with Hawaii journalists, writers and marketing communicators. We’re inviting notable and successful people in these areas to participate in the panel.

Who Do You Think You Are?

Genealogy

For those of you interested in genealogy and family history…

Our member Donna Miller will be our Show and Tell guest at next week’s HI Touch Learning Clinic. She has been on a journey to discover her ancestors using web and traditional resources. She will share how she has been able to manage and share her research with friends and family.

The InterWebs

Also at HI Touch Learning Clinic next week, Terrence Young will be moderating “The InterWebs Part One – Build It”. We will learn how to set up a simple web site, populate it with pages, posts, content and images.

Finally found a good name for our tech help portion of HI Touch Learning Clinic: Open Talk. This is the part of our day where anyone may bring  questions or share information on how to fix, improve or solve a technology issue. That’ll round up our day at HI Touch Learning Clinic on Saturday, April 4.

HI Touch Learning Clinics are free and open to guests. Invite a friend.

Sharing is Better

The HMAUS Leaderboard recently approved a membership incentive program called One Plus One that gives our best ambassadors an appreciation gift of extended membership. Effective from the start of this year a member who sponsors or refers a new member into HMAUS will have on additional month added to their membership. The sponsored new member is also given an additional month on top of their annual membership. Hence, the name One Plus One.

Just make sure that the submitted application (web form or paper form) includes the name of the sponsoring member. You could say it’s a win-win.

Be a Part of the Art

We’re looking for more art for our HMAUS.ORG banner. We’d like to showcase your photography or other digital art in the top banner of our web site. Our goal is to collect a good selection of banners over the course of a year. Then we’ll ask you to cast your votes for your favorites.

Your digital file may be a JPG, PNG or GIF document. The dimension should be 3200 wide and 380 pixels high with an RGB color space and at 72 pixels per inch.

Submit your art at:
